Family Celebrant and Life Story Teller
“There are days when we celebrate to create memories and there are days when we celebrate the memories we’ve created.”
Julia became a Celebrant after her Dad passed away. His funeral service could have been about anyone so she left the crematorium thinking there had to be a better way of paying tribute to a loved one. A way that brings forth memories of all the good and happy times in a person’s life, rather than dwelling on the sadness of the occasion. A way of capturing their personality and essence of who they are, rather than just listing information from their CV.
Training as an Independent Family Celebrant was a life changing moment for Julia. She had previously worked as a school, FE and offender learning teacher, youth worker and in adviser roles for two national charities. Working with people to achieve something positive in their lives has always been her passion and she believes her former employment has allowed her to develop a wide skillset which she uses daily as a celebrant. Julia is not only a good listener, with a huge amount of empathy, she’s also a very open and honest, chatterbox with a down to earth personality. This enables her to quickly put the people she works with at ease, ensuring they feel comfortable in her presence and confident in her ability to deliver the perfect ceremony for them. Julia considers the work she does to be an honour and a privilege.
Julia claims that none of her previous roles compare to the fulfilment she get from being a celebrant. Whether she’s writing; celebration of life (funeral or memorial) ceremonies, weddings, handfastings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies or life stories, meeting the requirements of the couples and families she works for, is always her priority. Julia loves to hear people’s ideas for new ways to commemorate special occasions gets and she’s enjoyed creating forever family adoption ceremonies as well as retirement ‘This is Your Life’ ceremonies in the past.
Her wealth of experience in creating and delivering unique, memorable, spiritual or non-religious ceremonies for all of life’s special occasions is evident in the positive feedback she receives. The amount of heart and soul she dedicates to each and every ceremony, is valued by couples and families across Staffordshire. Her love for her role is reflected in the words she uses, the special touches she incorporates and in the way she delivers every single ceremony in a professional manner. It warms Julia’s heart that she has many families repeatedly return to work with her when they want a ceremony to mark each of their special life events.
Julia lives in Stoke on Trent with her partner and cherished dog. Although she predominately works in her home county of Staffordshire, Julia is happy to travel throughout the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire. West Midlands and Shropshire.
